Bassingbourn Rifle & Pistol Club Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is Bassingbourn Rifle & Pistol Club a Home Office Approved Club for target shooting?

    Yes

  2. How do I join the Club?

    Send an email to enquiries@brpc.org.uk for further information and an Application Form which you can download and print off here

  3. What calibres am I able to shoot at what ages?

    Up to the age of 14 - .22 rimfire
    14 upwards - can apply for FAC and shoot centrefire

  4. At what age can I join you?

  5. Due to military range licences, we aren't able to allow anyone to shoot with us under the age of 18 unless their parent/guardian is a Full member of the Club. Then the minimum age is 14 and you will only be able to shoot at Isle Target Sports Club under the parent/guardian supervision.

  6. Membership Costs

    Currently:

  • Individual Annual Membership: £95.00 including Joining Fee, then £90 subsequent years

  • Additional family (dependant aged 14 and up to age 18 and living at home with Full Individual member/in full-time education) annual membership (no joining fee): £10

  • Full-time student over 18: £45 (no joining fee)

  • Joint Membership (full member plus partner): £145 including Joining Fee, then £140 subsequent years

  1. When does the Club shoot?

  2. Saturdays or Sundays during the month.  Please check the Shooting Dates page for up-to-date information

  3. Where do the Club shoot?

    BRPC shoots at Barton Road near Cambridge or Bassingbourn Barracks military ranges and Isle Target Sports Club (private Club range). Because we use military ranges, the civilian clubs have to put up with what allocations it can get, and last minute changes/cancellations due to operational requirements can occur. We have access to a maximum of 12 lanes at Barton Road range shooting from 100 metres to 1200 yards.

    100 m - 1200 m

    Maximum calibre of .577", and a maximum muzzle velocity of 3275 ft/sec (1000 m/s), and a maximum muzzle energy of 5160 ft lbs.

    Bassingbourn Barracks

    100 m

    Maximum of .223 (5.56mm)

    Isle Target Sports Club

    25 / 50 m

    Any firearm may used on the Mepal Range upto a maximum muzzle velocity of 3250 ft/sec and maximum muzzle energy of 3020 ft/lbs.

  6. Which we pub do we meet in when travelling to Bisley?

    The Inn @ West End in West End, before arriving at the village of Bisley. It is on the right hand side at some traffic lights.

  7. What is the minimum age for sentries?

    Minimum age for sentries is 18 years.

  8. What are the range times?

    Saturdays - 0830 - 1530 hours (Long Range at Barton Road)
    Sundays - 0830 - 1330 hours

    Times for shoots at the Isle Target Sports Club are generally 1330 - 1630, so please check the Shooting Dates page. This does depend on light availability during the winter months and attendance figures. The RCO reserves the rights to conclude the shoot earlier.
