Isle Target Sports Club - UPDATE
Any firearm may used on the Mepal Range upto a maximum muzzle velocity of
3250 ft/sec and maximum muzzle energy of 3020 ft/lbs.
Please enure that your ammunition does not exceed this, if it is, you will
be unable
to
shoot.
A
chronograph
is available to check velocities.
There are 2 lanes at 50m for prone and standing supported (using bag/bipod)
and 8 lanes at 25m for benchrest and prone shooting.

The use to which a range may be put is set by its safety certificate. The
following firearms and/or calibres only may be used on individual ranges as
in para 3 below, but subject always to:
i. for Rifle, a maximum calibre of .577", and a maximum muzzle velocity
of 3275 ft/sec (1000 m/s), and a maximum muzzle energy of 5160 ft. lbs. (7000
Joules);
ii. for Gallery Rifles and Pistols, a maximum calibre of .455", and a
maximum muzzle velocity of 2150 ft/sec (655 m/s), and a maximum muzzle energy
of 1496 ft. lbs. (2030 Joules).
In addition,
iii. Antique and Muzzle Loading Rifles/Muskets, Pistols and firearms of larger
calibre whose ammunition is initiated by a black powder or equivalent charge
may be discharged on all ranges except as follows:
(a). none of the above firearms may be discharged on the 300m (AMS), Zero,
Running Boar, Running Target or any of the Clay, Smallbore or Air Gun ranges;
(b). Muzzle Loading Rifles may not be discharged on Cheylesmore (previously
Rimfire), Winans (previously Pistol Galleries) or Time Limit ranges.
iv. application to use ammunition above any of the specification limits applicable
to a particular range must be made in writing to the Chief Executive well
in advance;
v. by special arrangement, gallery rifles and muzzle loading pistols may
be used on rifle ranges as shown below (except Zero and 300 m AMS), but full
bore rifles may never be used on pistol ranges. Small bore prone target rifles
may be used on Melville but only by prior arrangement. Gallery rifles may
be used on any of the pistol ranges.
d. Ranges and their permitted usage are as follows:
Fullbore Rifle Ranges
i. Stickledown (Gallery, 800 - 1200 yds). Rifles; gallery rifles and pistols
by special arrangement only.
ii. Century (Gallery, 100 - 600 yards). Rifles; gallery rifles and pistols
by special arrangement only.
iii. 300m (Butt 10) (Gallery, 100 yds - 300m). Rifles; gallery rifles and
pistols by special arrangement only.
iv. 300m (AMS ) (Gallery, 300m only). Target Rifles not exceeding 8mm.
v. Short Siberia (Gallery, 100 and 200 yards only). Rifles; gallery rifles
and pistols by special arrangement only.
vi. Shorts (Gallery, 200 yds only). Rifles only.
vii. Zero (No Danger Area Range, 71 7"). Target rifles only.
